Privacy policy
Effective from 7 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data we process when you use the ScoreboardCast mobile app (the “App”), the display shown on the TV (the “TV Display”) and the scoreboardcast.app website (the “Website”), why, for how long, and what rights you have. Processing is carried out in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and Hungarian Act CXII of 2011 on informational self-determination and freedom of information.
1. The controller
| Name | Eckert István, sole proprietor (egyéni vállalkozó) |

| Registration number | 53786410 |

We are not required to appoint a data protection officer. For any privacy question, write to the e-mail address above.
2. In short
- The App has no registration, no user accounts and no advertising; usage statistics are collected only with your consent (section 3.6).
- We run no backend server: game data (team names, scores, settings) stays on your phone and reaches the TV only over your local Wi-Fi through a Google Cast connection.
- We do not receive the data the App uses, and we do not pass it to third parties for marketing.
- We process personal data only when you request a quote, enter into a contract with us or write to us (see section 4).
3. The App and the TV Display
3.1 What is stored on your phone
The App stores on the device the state of the last game (team names, score, timers), your display settings (theme, team colors, horn, language) and the custom logo you chose. This data is in the App's private storage and is removed when you uninstall the App or clear its data. Team names may be names of people (for example players or school groups); you enter them yourself and they go nowhere except to the TV.
3.2 What is sent to the TV
Game data and display settings are sent over the local network, through the Google Cast channel, to the TV (or Chromecast). The TV Display keeps them only in memory and stores nothing permanently. A custom logo is sent from the phone into the TV's memory and disappears when the device restarts or the connection ends.
3.3 Android permissions
- Network and Wi-Fi state, multicast: to discover your TV or Chromecast on the local network.
- Photos / gallery: only when you choose a custom logo; the App reads only the image you pick. It does not use the camera or the microphone.
3.4 Google Cast and Google services
The App uses the Google Cast SDK and the TV Display uses the Google Cast receiver framework, both operated by Google LLC. Google may process data for its own purposes (for example device discovery and usage statistics) under its own privacy policy, and Google is an independent controller for that processing: policies.google.com/privacy. You download the App from Google Play, which is subject to the Google Play terms.
3.5 Loading the TV Display
When the display starts, the TV downloads the TV Display from tv.scoreboardcast.app (hosted by Vercel Inc.) and fonts from Google Fonts. The TV's IP address and browser data (such as type and language) therefore technically reach Vercel and Google. Their servers log this, but we cannot identify an individual from it and we do not try to. During a game only the local network is used.
3.6 Usage statistics and crash reports (Firebase)
On first launch the App asks whether you agree to anonymous usage statistics. Until you allow it, nothing is sent. If you do, Google Firebase Analytics (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) receives events such as the chosen sport, starting a match, connecting to a TV, opening the Pro page or activating Pro, together with the device and app version. Likewise, Firebase Crashlytics receives a crash report (error log, device model, Android and app version, an installation ID) if the app stops working. We do not send team names, player names, images, sponsors or precise location, and we do not use the advertising ID. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) – consent, which you can withdraw at any time under Settings → Phone → Usage statistics.
4. Quote requests, contracts, contact
| Data | Name, organization (club, school), e-mail address, phone number (optional), the content of your message; for contracts, billing data (name, address, tax number) and contact person details. |
|---|---|
| Purpose | Answering your quote request, preparing and performing a quote and contract, support, invoicing, complying with legal obligations. |
| Legal basis | GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) – steps prior to entering into a contract and performance of a contract; for invoicing and complaints Art. 6(1)(c) – legal obligation (accounting and tax law); for protecting our rights Art. 6(1)(f) – legitimate interest. |
| Retention | Quote requests that do not lead to a contract: up to 1 year from the last contact. Contracts: until the contract ends, then until civil law claims lapse (5 years). Accounting records (invoices): 8 years under Hungarian Act C of 2000 on accounting. |
The quote form currently opens an e-mail with the data you enter, so it reaches us through your mail program and your e-mail provider. Providing the data is optional, but without it we cannot send a quote.
5. The Website
The Website uses analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4, Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) only after you consent: with an anonymised IP address it measures which pages are viewed, how the TV compatibility check and the quote request are used, and how many people click the store button. We do not send what you type into the quote form (name, e-mail, phone, notes) or any team or player names. We use no advertising cookies. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) – consent, which you can change or withdraw at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer (measurement data is kept for up to 14 months). Without consent no Google script is loaded and nothing is measured. The hosting provider keeps technical server logs (IP address, time, requested page, browser data) for operation and security (legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) – legitimate interest). The Website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which passes your IP address to Google.
6. Processors and recipients
- Vercel Inc. (440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA): hosting of the Website and the TV Display.
- Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited: Google Cast, Google Play, Google Fonts; e-mail service where we handle e-mail through a Google service. Acting in part as an independent controller.
- Our accountant and invoicing software provider: for invoicing and bookkeeping, with the data needed to meet legal obligations.
- Authorities and courts: only where required by law.
We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
7. Transfers outside the EEA
Vercel and Google may process data in the United States. Transfers rely on the European Commission's adequacy decision (EU–US Data Privacy Framework) or standard contractual clauses (SCCs), where the provider applies them.
8. Security
The Website and the TV Display are available only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Data on your phone is protected by Android's app sandbox; you are responsible for locking and securing your device. We do not store data on our own servers.
9. Children
The App is a general sports scoreboard, collects no personal data and is not intended to collect children's data. If you use it in a school, the institution operating the App is responsible for the team and player names it enters.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request:
- access to your personal data and a copy (Art. 15),
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16),
- erasure (“right to be forgotten”, Art. 17), where no retention obligation applies,
- restriction of processing (Art. 18),
- data portability (Art. 20),
- and you may object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21).
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing before the withdrawal. We answer requests within one month (extendable by two further months where necessary, in which case we tell you). Send requests to info@scoreboardcast.app.
11. Remedies
If you believe your data protection rights have been infringed, you may contact the supervisory authority:
| Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH) | Falk Miksa utca 9–11, 1055 Budapest, Hungary Postal address: 1363 Budapest, Pf. 9. E-mail: ugyfelszolgalat@naih.hu Web: naih.hu |
|---|
You may also go to court; proceedings can be brought before the competent court of your place of residence or stay.
12. Changes
We may update this policy, for example because of a new feature or a change in law. The current version is always available on this page, with the date of the change.
