A volleyball scoreboard on your gym TV
With the ScoreboardCast app a big TV becomes the scoreboard for a volleyball match. The game is run from a phone, and the TV shows the points, sets, timeouts and the server, readable from the far end of the hall.

What the TV shows
- Both teams’ points in large numbers and the sets won
- The current set and the results of earlier sets
- Which team is serving
- Timeouts left for each team
- A clear signal at set point and match point
Volleyball rules built in
Sets go to 25 points with a two-point margin, a deciding fifth set to 15. A match can be set to one, two or three sets won, so it works for practice games, school leagues and adult matches. The app closes the set and the match itself and gives the serve to the team that won the point. A wrong point is undone with one tap.
Timeouts with a countdown
A timeout starts a large countdown on the TV, 30 seconds by default with two timeouts per set. When it ends the TV sounds the horn, so referees and teams do not need to watch the clock. With Pro the club’s sponsors also appear during timeouts.
With your club’s branding
With a Pro subscription the TV shows the club or school crest and each team’s own color and crest, and sponsor logos rotate at breaks and between games. Teams can be saved together with their rosters.
What you need
- A Google Cast-enabled TV, or any TV with an external Chromecast
- An Android phone with the free ScoreboardCast app
- Wi-Fi that both the phone and the TV are on
The TV checker tells you in two minutes whether a given TV works. In a gym the TV should sit behind a ball guard.

Frequently asked questions
Is the volleyball scoreboard free?
Yes. Volleyball with every rule is part of the free version. Pro adds the club crest, team colors, sponsors and saved teams.
How many sets can a match have?
One, two or three sets won. Sets go to 25 points and the deciding fifth set to 15, always with a two-point margin.
Who can run the game?
Anyone who uses a phone, whether a coach, a scorer or a teacher. One point is one tap, and a wrong point can be undone.
Do I need internet in the hall?
The TV needs internet when the display starts. During the game the local Wi-Fi that the phone and the TV share is enough.
Which TV do I need?
A Google Cast-enabled TV, for example one running Google TV or Android TV. For any other TV an external Chromecast or Google TV Streamer is enough.
